Lord come gather Your children home
the place we want to be
for weariness trials and heartache
make us hope more in Thee

our desires for the things of heaven
while we are bound to earth
give us that much more to work for
because our works have worth

You said we are to occupy
our time until You come
gathering in the harvest crop
of souls which must be won

we know the need and urgency
in service of Your will
because the time is coming ‘nigh
Your plan must be fulfilled

the many saints who have a home
prepared for them on high
look forward to that happy rest
as Jesus dwells nearby

our heavenly home is with our God
one family bound by love
while each one has a testimony
of God’s good grace above

we look to see the day
when salvation appears in the clouds
to take us all away
